Proximity to Balthazar and some epic shopping aside, there is much to love about the Crosby Street Hotel, one of the most ideally located places to stay in New York City. The antithesis of impersonal minimalism, the 86 rooms and suites are decorated in Kit Kemp’s signature style – a chic and somewhat quirky blend of sumptuous fabrics, modern furniture and beautiful antiques – offset with floor-to-ceiling loft style windows and an interesting collection of modern art. Add in dark grey marble bathrooms, extraordinarily comfortable beds, a pleasing array of technology (iPod dock, DVD player, free Wifi.) and superlative service and you may never check out. Downstairs, the play factor is amped up. By the time you have feasted in the Crosby Bar, had a drink in the guests-only Sculpture Garden, relaxed in the drawing room under the watchful eyes of Francois Bard’s dog paintings and taken in the Sunday night film in the downstairs screening room you might be running out of time to explore the fantastic restaurants and shopping on your doorstep.
