Crossing Condotti lies just a few paces off the famed high fashion shopping mecca that is Via Condotti, all of about 200 metres from the Spanish Steps. There are just five rooms, sumptuously decorated in muted tones to set off the fabulously restored original wood-panelled ceilings. They are finished off with antique furnishings and paintings and the odd carefully chosen modern piece for good measure. There is a shared sitting room with a good selection of books, guides and style magazines and a kitchen with a fridge full of complimentary soft drinks and an excellent coffee machine. Marco, the Assistant Manager and Concierge, is an enthusiastic fount of amazing knowledge of all things Roman – from bars and restaurants to cultural events – and to suit all tastes. Reception is manned during office hours only, after that you are armed with your own key and free to come and go as you please. A real home from home.
