Curry Up Now
Curry Up Now started life as an idea that took root from the passion of founders Akash and Rana Kapoor for Indian street food. While the idea was bold, it was one that Californians are now relishing, whether they happen upon one of the Curry Up Now food trucks, or make a pilgrimage to one of its brick-and-mortar locations, like the San Francisco outpost, a gleaming, colourful, graffiti- and steel-adorned place.
And they’re very forgiving when you mangle the pronunciation of dishes like Marwari Kachori Chaat (lentil-stuffed puris with potato-chickpea mash, yoghurt and chutneys), which is lucky because it’s delicious; as is everything else on the menu. But the food here is more creative than traditional. Take the “Sexy Fries”, for example, which is their Indian-inspired take on poutine, featuring sweet potato fries topped with cheese and your choice of three lip-smacking sauces. Not to forget the “Dynamite Tanga” chicken wings that’ll blow your head off, thanks to the spicy Indo-Chinese sauce and ghost chilli dust. With salads and vegan options, too, as well as gluten-free tortillas and even a kids’ menu, at Curry Up Now there really is something for everyone.
