Czehoski
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (but tweaking its purpose is ok.). (Cha-hos-key) is a former family butcher shop/deli-turned-restaurant/bar with much of its original paraphernalia preserved: from the 1924 peeling painted sign above the wooden storefront, to the butcher’s block and meat display case (now substituted with wine and beer).
Though spruced up over three floors with contemporary art and furniture, the quirky vintage details shine through. The second-floor pub features a roaring fireplace and antique bar that leads out to a woodsy terrace. Cocktails are updated seasonally and there are 16 global beers on tap.
There’s good food (but eat it in the ground-floor bistro if you’re noise-sensitive), including nostalgic desserts like their s’mores chocolate tart. The crowd – and a crowd it is – is suitably low-maintenance.
