d’altitude Le Panoramic
Food-lovers beware, this is one of the places to eat in Val d’Isere which will leave you so full that you will be rolling, rather than skillfully skiing, home. It pays to get it right at the Panoramic, otherwise you could be in for a miserable experience.
A gourmet-standard, table-service restaurant – think of freshly grilled lobster and you get the idea – is next door to a scruffy looking transport café-type establishment that doesn’t make for a great first impression. But don’t let that put you off. Ring ahead and book between midday and three; if you get in early you can reserve a highly prized table near the fire, on which the lobster is grilled.
It’s easy to stay a bit too long in the gloomy depths of the restaurant, especially if full up with the braised rack of lamb and tiramisu. On the plus side, over-eaters can take the train back.
