Eating at Daniel is a bit of an out-of-body experience-like you tried to dream up the most refined, lovely culinary encounter, from food to wine to service to surroundings, and, poof, there it was. If only it were that easy, Boulud just makes it look that way, and this, his gracious flagship eatery, is truly the zenith of his mountain empire. “I have always found Daniel Boulud’s amazing original ‘Daniel’ to be the epitome of gastronomy,” says chef Michael Lomonaco, “Excellent ingredients, perfect execution, creative flair with classic twists, refined but unstuffy elegance – a pure delight in every way.” The menu changes with the seasons, but his black sea bass is a classic and his lamb two ways; a roasted chop and tenderloin and a braised shoulder will make you wish for eternal spring. Says Louis Collucio Jr.: “The staff creates one of the warmest, classiest spaces in New York. This is Daniel Boulud’s flagship restaurant for a reason.
