Danks Street Depot
This was one of the cafés in Sydney leading the Waterloo revolution, which saw a rather derelict suburb transform into one of Sydney’s chic urban nooks. Danks Street Depot sits alongside galleries, gourmet grocers and vintage stores. Chef Jarad Ingersoll runs this incredibly popular warehouse-style café basing the seasonal menu on the principles of the slow-food movement. There’s always an eccentric, interesting crowd stopping off for lunch after perusing the nearby galleries, so you might have to wait for one of the bar stools, which sit astride long wooden bars. Try the hot, braised beef and caramelised onion sandwich, served on schiacatta with crispy Chat potatoes.
