Cute waitresses with tattoos and piercings are not a big feature in many restaurants in San Francisco, so head to Delfina where they still serve your food, showing it is still possible to feel like a hipster. However, the glossies have discovered the place, sending droves of upper-middle-class retirees and their platinum debit cards rushing for the phone to make reservations months in advance. That is the price a restaurant pays for being consistently it as Delfina has been for several years now. The Italian menu changes daily, offering handmade pastas, roasted chicken, flatiron steak, and other favorites. Desserts and dessert wines are notably well chosen. It’s also a tight fit in the dining room. In warm months, the patio is the way to go.
