Delicatessen
Putting a distinctively Soho spin on the greasy spoon, this endeavor from the folks behind Chelsea’s Cafeteria has had success written all over it since day one. They brought in an all-star crew to deck out the bi-level space: Nema Workshop created retractable stainless steel garage doors and a sexy, glass-roofed lounge; photographer Terry Richardson shot the menu covers, and Charlotte Ronson designed the uniforms. Meanwhile, Michael Ferraro’s kicked-up comfort food – fried chicken in a bucket, fish and chips, Grandma’s meatloaf – bring fun and flair. Not surprisingly, the beautiful people can’t stay away… In fact they stuff themselves in on most nights to swill and cruise and replicate an experience many of us experience in our ordinary lives: eating at a deli. A gorgeous deli, but a deli, nonetheless.
