District Mot
Those who’ve visited southeast Asia will recognize District Mot’s interior look: styled like a gritty sidewalk stall, complete with multi-coloured plastic stools, tangles of power lines, and rusted aluminium siding, District Mot has gone to great lengths to replicate an authentic street food experience indoors. That quest for the genuine doesn’t stop at the décor, however: the food slung at District Mot is truly evocative of Vietnamese sidewalk eats. Opened by the group behind the successful Si An, the ever-rotating menu of low-cost dishes includes plates like bun cha (minced pork patties in broth, a dish that hails from the north of Vietnam), and Vietnamese frog legs – for the bold. Outdoor sidewalk seating is also available, so on hot days punters can gulp down mugs of creamy, cold Vietnamese iced coffee under the shade of a patio umbrella.
