High up above Marine Drive – with all it’s power-walkers, hawkers, teenagers and strolling couples – there exists a near-on perfect bar and viewpoint. Dome, on the roof of the Intercontinental Hotel, with it’s chic design and crisp white linens, attracts a youngish smart international mix of ex-pats and locals. The views of the Arabian sea at sunset can be spectacular, as can the sight of the moon if it’s full.
A good list of cocktails, wines, beers, spirits and hot toddies are dished out by glamorous bartenders, but be warned – drinks come with a suitably high price tag attached and the Japanese snacks are minute. This aside, few bars have what it takes to make everyone who enters feel like a star, yet Dome manages it, and that’s why we like it so.
