Dosa on Fillmore

The owners of the popular Dosa have taken their marvellous Indian spot for dining out in San Francisco to Lower Pacific Heights, with its successful formula of fantastic cuisine, combined with California elegance and a hefty dose of ambiance all intact. The owners transformed a former Goodwill into quite the stylish space, complete with tangerine walls and wispy chandeliers. Much as in the original location, the must-tries on the menu include the restaurant’s namesake dosas, crepe-like pancakes made with lentils and filled with a variety of spiced potatoes and vegetables. The chutney masala dosa has eggplant and a nice amount of spice, while the peas and paneer version features creamy farmer cheese. If you’re used to gloppy, greasy Indian, this will be nothing like you’ve ever tasted before: Dosa’s lush South Indian fare is nothing short of a revelation, with well-balanced flavours, fresh California ingredients, and a hefty dose of spice.Housed in a former Goodwill, Dosa on Fillmore is a thing of beauty, with sky-high ceilings, pumpkin-hued walls, a long bar, and massive windows that look out onto Fillmore and Post streets. Well-heeled Pac Heights locals and stylish diners from all over the city flock here to share the restaurant’s namesake dosas and truly inspired curries. Unlike the original, this new location has one very important addition: a full bar, serving several signature cocktails.
