Polished concrete. Walls of glass. Modern tables. Dragonfly Café, located on a quiet leafy Aoyama side street, is as stylish as its setting. Located on the first floor of the fashion store Cabane de Zucca, the café is an extension of the creative vision of the label’s designer Akira Onozuka. After perusing two floors of fashion and accessories, wander up the concrete exterior staircase for some post retail therapy refreshment.
An outlet of Cow Books, which specializes in out of print art and design books, shares the space with the café. Accompanying its sleek décor is a tasty menu: good value set lunch menus for Y1,050 include avocado hamburgers in paprika sauce and spicy Okinawan noodles. But a highlight is tea time: sit at a balcony table behind the tall reed curtains and opt for a ginger milk tea or honey lavender soda along with lemongrass jelly, baked banana gratin or pumpkin pudding.
