Hg2 : The Hedonist

El Comedor

The simple dining area, filled with earth-coloured booths, has racks of old china plates and knick-knacks along the walls that makes this one of the warm, homey places to eat in Bogota. El Comedor aims to give homemade cooking an unusual touch, and young actresses, politicians and film producers flock accordingly. The lamb stew and veal Milanese are both delicious, but the true allure lies in the speciality chicken. A whole chicken is encased in a shell of salt, roasted and served with a delicious soybean and garlic sauce. The entire bird is then brought to the table to be carved and served family-style; the dish is renowned throughout Bogotá. El Comedor is a gem of Bogotá, and a lot less ostentatious than many of the other premium restaurants.
