The concept behind El Techo is much like the Bogotá nightlife in general; acting as a restaurant during the day, this venue turns into a dance club at night. Juxtaposing a strong metal structure with colourful gilded chairs that come in mint green, maroon velvet and dappled gold, the effect is bright and beautiful. El Techo serves excellent Mexican fare (the peppers stuffed with meat or shrimp are the perfect bar snack) and the cocktails give a South American twist to traditional drinks-the passionfruit margarita is a particular favourite.
