Elizabeth’s, a funky Bywater neighbourhood favourite, lives up to its motto: “Real Food, Done Real Good.” The breakfast menu includes waffles, omelettes, praline bacon, and calas, a delicious rice flour beignet that has almost disappeared from New Orleans. At lunch, Elizabeth’s makes overstuffed po’ boys and massive platters of Southern comfort food. The spitfire founder Heidi Trull moved home to South Carolina, but the new owners have kept her tradition of Southern hospitality alive in the Bywater. They’ve also added dinner and an upstairs bar.
