Hg2 : The Hedonist

Enoteca Palatium

The name, Palatium, refers to the Palatine, one of the seven Roman hills, but this is one of the restaurants in Rome which is in fact nearer to the Spanish Steps and shopping-land than to the Palatine. Inside is a tranquil space with a fresh, invigorating layout and modern high-tech finishings. The focus is on promoting regional food and wine: diners sit on cubic chairs at polished wooden tables for a swig of something local accompanied by some cheese and cured meats, or alternatively eat properly in the minimalist dining room upstairs. The location is a little soulless come evening time when the shoppers have gone home, but the food hits the spot and there are plenty of light and healthy options – this is modern Lazio cuisine, as opposed to tripe and oxtail.
