Hg2 : The Hedonist

In 1993 owner Pino Bodini put 10 tables at the front of his family home and called it Escopazzo, which is some of the most authentic cooking out of the Italian restaurants in Miami. Back then his mother would shout advice from the back of the kitchen while she made tiramisu. Now, tiramisu remains on the pudding menu and this cosy, upscale Italian restaurant feels like the innocent little lamb of Washington Avenue, flanked by tattoo parlours and novelty shops, and filled with a loyal following of regulars and the occasional movie star to boot. In truth, Ezcopazzo is not as innocent as it looks: Pino’s wife Giancarla now runs a kitchen that has become renowned for its flair. Don’t expect Mamma’s meatballs when eating at Ezcopazzo; Giancarla has a lot up her sleeve. Meanwhile, in Pino’s cellar, there are 170 cases of wine, a fact that he openly boasts about to his patrons.
