Esplanada da Graça
There is no shortage of breathtaking miradouros but this particular spot Esplanada da Graça, is one of the Lisbon locals favourite coffee shops. In truth Esplanada da Graça is nothing more than a tiny kiosk serving coffee, beers and toasted sandwiches. But this is definitely the place to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
A young crowd armed with guitars and conversation meet to relax in the company of strangers. It makes for perfect people-watching; anything from a canoodling couple to a performing labrador can be captured in a 180° glance. Stop for long enough, and you’re likely to be engrossed by some activity or another. It’s easy to while away the weekend. The cast-iron bells of the neighbouring church are the only reminder of the hours slipping away.
