During a good Stockholm summer, when the nights are warm and light, it seems a crime to stay indoors. Thankfully, with a bit of planning you rarely have to. F12 Terrassen is an alfresco late-night lounge that takes place in conjunction with one of the city’s best restaurants, Fredsgatan 12 (see Restaurants).
A crowd of well-dressed Stockholmers and their foreign friends cover the steps and the two terraces flanking the entrance to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, next door to the restaurant. The sight of this grand old building illuminated with colourful lights and mobbed with people sipping drinks and enjoying the music is impressive. If you want to make a night of it, pop into the restaurant for dinner or just to graze from the bar menu before heading outside again to enjoy a little night music.
