Hg2 : The Hedonist

From the same management as Mado and Penjere, both of which also mean window in, respectively, Japanese and Azeri, Finestra is a good, solid Italian option that, while it perhaps lacks the convivial atmosphere of Scalini, or the upscale panache of Mosaico, certainly has more to offer than just a decent pizza. Popular with business folk at lunchtime and a younger crowd – who tend to congregate in the booths up on the mezzanine – later in the day, Finestra has a lengthy menu, featuring all the usual Italian suspects as well as some Azeri staples like sturgeon with pome-granate. Oh and don’t be fooled by the Italian name badges on the waiters in their natty, if toggle-free, ‘tricolore’ boy-scout scarves, I’d put money on Fredo having been born Elchin.
