Foul, Hommos & Co

One of our favourite places to eat in Beirut, FH & Co provides traditional Lebanese cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Owned by Omar Sadek who also runs the trendy watering hole down the street, Godot, Foul, Hommos & Co seats about 20 people maximum and features an open kitchen where you can watch the aging chefs prepare damn good hommos, and fantastic foul – fava beans or black eyed beans meshed together into a fine, salty breakfast mix with lots of olive oil.

The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, the seats against the wall velvet covered and the ceiling arched – the space having been an old storage cellar for the building above. And the service comes with a smile. A good alternative to the Western-oriented breakfast the only problem with this cosy, cheap eaterie is that it can get packed at lunch.
