Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff
Fancy sleeping in luxury and waking up to the sounds of lions roaring? The Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff offers you just that, thanks to its close proximity to Johannesburg Zoo in the northern suburbs of Josie (as locals call their city) and its recent lavish upgrade. Marking the international hotel juggernaut’s first South African venture, the Westcliff Hotel reopened its doors in 2015 under the banner of the Four Seasons after an 18-month, multi-million dollar makeover spearheaded by renowned South African firms RSL Architects and Jacket Interiors.
And what a makeover it was. All 117 guestrooms have been anointed with the Four Seasons’ quasi-patented blend of chic, contemporary interiors (marble bathrooms, elegant colour palette, high-tech features), while subtly blending in modern African design elements and showcasing the incredible views. Just look to the lobby and the bespoke sculptures from local artist Hannelie Cotzee, or the brand-new exterior glass elevators that offer views out over the hotel’s verdant eight-acre hillside plot populated by swaying jacaranda and palm trees.
The elevators, incidentally, spirit guests up to the new Flames and View restaurants (the latter is aptly named, with fantastic panoramic vistas over the city from its outdoor terrace), which offer regional, seasonal cuisine in elegant surrounds. But those are just two of the numerous elegant dining options found at the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff. Elsewhere in the hotel, guests will find a state-of-the-art spa and an outdoor Après-Spa bar and lounge, ideal for a sundowner after an afternoon of relaxing treatments.
