Galley
In looks, Galley resembles a little slice of Palm Beach in Islington. Turquoise banquettes pop; bar seats are brilliant orange. The ceiling is decked out in dizzying, black and white stripes and the back wall is covered in mirrors.
But if its aesthetics fall just short of full-on Art Deco kitsch by way of the Sunshine State, Galley’s plates are a more refined – but still playful – affair. Seafood is the focus, and it’s deftly and eclectically handled. Yellowfin tuna tartare is sunny with mango, avocado and teriyaki, while octopus and chorizo a la plancha comes finished with smoked garlic pesto and caramelised onion puree. The classics are well-represented too; think bouillabaisse, lobster linguine and tuna niçoise.
A spot along the banquette is ideal for a larger party in this snug spot; otherwise a bar seat provides ringside viewing as chefs sweat over their scallops.
