The upstairs bar at one of the chicest restaurants in Sydney, Porteño, Gardel’s Bar offers the same sort of quality in more relaxed surrounds. Styled as a mid-20th century Argentine speakeasy, Gardel’s exudes Latin charm with its rich banquettes and dim lighting and even an Evita-themed room replete with images of Eva Perron. Braces-clad mixologists stir up potent concoctions behind a padded leather bar and patrons can also order off of Porteño’s rather impressive (and mostly Argentine) wine list.  A short but inventive menu of bar snacks includes tapas-style nibbles like grilled pork belly skewers and beer and miso marinated lamb ribs. All in all, Gardel’s makes for a nice post-Porteño dinner tipple or a more down-to-earth evening of classic cocktails.
