Gastropub
Building upon the success of venues such as the 223 and the Social Club, the aptly named Gastropub is the latest Israeli entry to the London-rooted gastronomic revolution in pub culture. Aimed at a higher-end audience, the establishment drops the usual local drafts in favor of a twenty-strong rotating menu of beers. The selection is impressive, yet it is merely set to complement a self-proclaimed ‘mature’ menu of pub-fare, ranging from Mediterranean comfort food such as a traditional Jerusalem bagel served with hyssop and tahini, to exotic dishes such as Calamari a la plancha in a sumac yogurt sauce.
Located in a preserved Bauhaus building deep within the heart of the city, Gastropub draws a stylish, older crowd that is willing to spend extra for quality. Expect a median age of thirty-two , seeking an informal night out. The property offers seating at its outdoor deck, as well as inside either at the bar or at 4-person tables. If the weather fits, grab a perch under the stars, as the interior tends to may become too congested for comfort.
