The Gefinor, one of the more upmarket business hotels in Beirut, is located at the lower end of Hamra in Clemenceau Street, an older Beirut neighbourhood full of attractive Mandate-period houses and local artisan shops and stores. It is close to the Planet Discovery and The American University of Beirut. Constructed and opened in 2001, it is part of the small Rotana chain and features 128 rooms, a health club and great views over Beirut. Close to Hamra and Verdun and just a short walk to downtown and the seafront, the Gefinor is a sophisticated hotel boasting great service. Attractive rooms are modern without being too sterile, especially the suites, which compete with those of the higher-end hotels but at a much cheaper rate. The hotel’s Trader Vic’s bar-restaurant is well worth a visit for its food and famous tiki-tiki cocktails which are guaranteed to put you to bed early. Ultimately one of the highlights of the Gefinor is its rooftop infinity pool, in which floating feels deliciously decadent.
