Hg2 : The Hedonist

An extravagant, Tsarist-style dining room. If you are looking for Tallinn’s version of sumptuous old Europe, come to Gloria, where you will find that the Baltic is equally at home in the grand restaurant tradition. Although the current kitchen is little more than a decade old the establishment was first opened during the 1930s, when it was known as ‘Dancing Paris’ – hence the splendid Art Deco interior and large cabaret stage, which can still be hired for private shows.
rnToday it is owned by Dimitri Demjanov, a high-profile entrepreneur (and chef) who also started fancy Egoist restaurant on the other side of the Old Town as well as the guesthouse and wine cellar downstairs. Gloria offers a menu refreshingly free of French jargon and unnecessary clutter – the kitchen is confident enough to tell it straight, with dishes organized into fish, meat, game or poultry. The quality of the dishes is not as consistently high as the price range might suggest, but at its best is excellent. Vegetarian options are also available.
