Hg2 : The Hedonist

If you want to find an opulent but relaxed restaurant in Moscow, then Gorki is the place to go.

‘Gorki’ has various connotations in Russia. History brings us both Maxim Gorky, one of Russia’s most famous writers, and the closed villages ‘Gorki’ outside Moscow, where Stalin’s scientists worked.
rnLocated on Tverskaya Ulitsa, formerly Gorky Street, this establishment is housed in the original Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, and its interior dates to the 1950s. Neoclassical in style, it has high ceilings, large windows, marble columns and burgundy crushed velvet sofas and chairs, which combine to create a classic dining room in stylish Soviet-chic grandeur.
rnChef Antonia Lafuria has designed a promising Russian and Italian menu – a fusion of Gorki’s heritage, and time he spent writing on the island of Capri. You can order a ‘surprise’: three dishes not found on the menu, which the chef will prepare especially.
This fashionable and indulgent fine-dining establishment, with its unpretentious ambience, makes a refreshing change from many of the minimalist choices available in Moscow.
