Restaurant GQ is nothing to do with the magazine, but is meant to denote Gastronomic Intelligence, in much the same way that IQ denotes intellectual cleverness. The setting is just what you`d expect of a chic Stockholm restaurant — a location in swanky Östermalm, decor based on a neutral colour palette enlivened by pieces of modern art, polished and attentive service.

The surprising thing is the food philosophy. The chef, Jürgen Grossmann, is a proponent of eating wisely as well as eating indulgently. So while the meal is undoubtedly delicious, it`s also healthy. The six course tasting menu costs SEK 845; the accompanying wine menu is 625 SEK. Expect dishes like reindeer with lentils, or grilled monkfish with beans and pak choi.  The chef has achieved a sort of culinary holy grail: guilt-free gourmet food.
