Gran Café Motta
Housed in a high ceiling neo-classical building by the Limmat river, Gran Café Motta re-opened in early 2010 after an elegant refurbishment by renowned local architect Tilla Theus. A modern take on the original Motta Caffè Bar, which opened in Milan in 1928, the interior is a sleek blend of dark wood with silver walls, striking paintings and statement lighting.
It’s been a great success, drawing in steady traffic throughout day for breakfast, lunch, coffee, drinks and cakes. The menu has a good range of light salads, soups and panini so you can enjoy the selection of delicious patisserie with something of a clean conscience. Proving just how well they know their market, they even offer half portions of their sinfully good tiramisu. As with every decent café in Zürich, Motta has a short wine list and offers Bollinger by the glass.
