Grand Canal Shoppes
Shopping in Vegas’ Grand Canal Shoppes is the retail equivalent of Disneyland. Walking through the immaculately-recreated Venetian street scene, with its archways, bridges and twisty cobbled streets that eventually spill out onto a replica of Venice’s St. Mark’s Square, the Grand Canal Shoppes is one of the city’s most unique malls. Along with great shopping at the high-end and mid-range of the shopping spectrum (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, the Canyon Ranch Living Essentials store), the Grand Canal Shoppes includes a quarter-mile canal where you can catch a gondola piloted by a singing gondolier. Along with the boatmen, the mall is filled with other entertainers, like ‘living statues’ that resemble marble sculptures ‘performing’ in the square, opera singers belting out Puccini, and actors costumed as Renaissance Venetian citizens who wander the walkways interacting with visitors. Stroll the shops or have a bite at one of the restaurants that ring the square, such as Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio.
