Great Northern Hotel
Just a few short years ago, Kings Cross was the stamping ground of “unsavouries”; the kind of place Londoners avoided, or at best hurried through on the way to somewhere much, much nicer. Now home to a healthy new crop of trendy bars, restaurants and hotels, Kings Cross has been reborn in an achingly cool new guise and nor more so than the Great Northern Hotel.
One of these aforementioned establishments is the GNH Hotel, a renovated railway hotel set within the bustling surrounds of Kings Cross station. Originally built by Lewis Cubitt back in the 1850s, the hotel fell into disrepair sometime during the ‘90s and was closed for a lengthy renovation. Opening its doors to the public once again, the Great Northern Hotel has been reimagined as a sleek new boutique stay, complete with a small selection of stylish rooms, a fantastic restaurant (Plum + Split Milk) and a buzzing bar located right on the station concourse.
