Great NY Noodletown

This stand-out Chinese spot may not look like much, glass top tables for quick wiping and paper place mats give it a distinctly “get ’em in get ’em out” feel to the place – but those who know, like New York Times food writer Melissa Clark, swear by Noodle Town’s Cantonese-style (extremely cheap!) dishes, as outstanding as the name promises. From the wonton soup, in which plump dumplings are filled with shrimp (not pork, like most others), to the cleaver-chopped, outstanding crispy duck, one can only hope that it won’t fall prey to the gobbling whims of the real estate market. Worship-worthy in the opinion of James Beard award-winner Dave Wondrich, and a favorite late or fast meal for chefs like Sara Jenkins and Julian Alonzo (“I’m a sucker for eating late night . [I go to] New York Noodle on Bowery for their suckling pig.”)
