Hix Oyster & Chophouse
After years overseeing the menus for Caprice Holdings’ famous stable of restaurants and successfully relaunching Scott’s the chef director and Bill Murray doppelganger, Mark Hix, decided to depart for fresh pastures in 2007. After helping out over at the Albemarle he opened this his first eponymous joint on what was previously the site of the old fish restaurant, Rudland & Stubbs. The menu is trademark Hix, reviving and reinventing classic and forgotten British delicacies such as skate knobs, smoking his own salmon and serving uncommon cuts such as sirloin on the bone. Hix’s thirsty crew of arty cronies have followed him over from the Rivington Grill in Shoreditch (which he sold to his former employers before he did one) and is supplemented by a steady supply of restaurant industry types.
