Hog Island Oyster Company
Bivalve lovers may never want to leave the Hog Island Oyster Company, a top spot for (obviously) oyster eating in San Francisco, inside the Ferry Building, where you’ll witness the house speciality, platters of the freshest oysters on ice, being delivered to nearly every table. Sample oysters from Hog Island’s own oysters from Tomales Bay, as well as a few other Pacific and Atlantic selections. The kitchen also turns out a superior clam chowder, as well as a few specials, such as arctic char with creamy wild mushroom polenta and chard. The minimalist dining room, done up with classy nautical elements, is small, so you may have to wait, but it’s worth it for the views-and did we mention the oysters?
