Faded posters of Miles Davis and original billboards of seminal jazz festivals proudly adorn the walls of Lisbon’s oldest and most famous jazz bar. Underground in the truest sense of the word, Hot Clube is more a den than a club house.
rnLow ceilings and a smoky atmosphere are certainly authentic, but cramped and uncomfortable when more than 50 people turn up. A back patio catches some overspill. Hot Clube has built on a solid reputation over the years, and the standard of classic jazz is always high. Many big-name artists drop by for an impromptu jam after playing bigger venues. The place is dripping with nostalgia, but with good reason.
