Hotel Café Royal

The history of Regent Street’s palatial Hotel Café Royal is a long and illustrious one. Within its impeccably decorated walls, famous intellectuals have gathered, politicos chatted and celebrities caroused. Oscar Wilde flirted here, Churchill drank here, and David Bowie retired his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, here in what has become a somewhat notorious (and star-studded) party back in the 70s. In short, the Hotel Café Royal is a London legend.

The hotel has 160 sleek rooms and suites, featuring everything from Carrara marble and high-end British products in the bathrooms to Frette linens and heated parquet floors in the bedrooms. The rooms at the Hotel Café Royal are also beautifully sound-proofed against the noise of Regent Street and the West End outside, making each a haven of calm in the midst of the British capital.

For even more relaxation, the Hotel Café Royal has its own luxurious urban retreat, the Akasha Holistic Wellness Centre, which offers a wide range of treatments and fitness classes. And there are several fine dining and drinking establishments, for those who prefer their decadence in the form of great cocktails and delicious food. Highlights include the famous Oscar Wilde Bar (which offers a stellar afternoon tea) and the culinary stylings of Pastry Chef Sarah Barber at The Café, which, by night, turns into a dessert restaurant – the first of its kind in London.
