Hotel Greulich
Greulich might sound dangerously like the German word for ‘horrible’, but there’s much to love about Zürich’s most stylish design hotel.rnBuilt in 2001, the curved dark blue building echoes the architecture of thern1930s, but what lies behind is pure modernity.
The glass-fronted ground floorrnhouses the popular bar, lounge and restaurant Greulich, where young, up-and-comingrnchef Marco Hartmann mans the stove, all decorated in warm Mediterraneanrncolours, with red walls and cedar wood floors. The ten rooms and eight suites runrnoff a small, Japanese-influenced courtyard planted with a dramatic installationrnof 160 slim birch trees by landscape architect Günther Vogt.
In contrast to thernwarm tones of the restaurant, the feel is pure industrial chic, with exposedrnconcrete, glass and metal. The rooms are study in white, a lone flower vasernadding a splash of colour, with integral bathrooms. For lovers of form andrndesign, keen to access Zürich’s Kreis 4 party scene, there is no better choice.rnrnrnrn
