Hotel Kindli
A 16th centuryrntownhouse hotel nestling deep in Zürich’s cobbled Altstadt, the Kindli is old-school,rnfloral charm personified. Run by the owner, Gisela Lacher, it feels rather like her well appointed home; she designed every room with a blend ofrnmodern design and antiques and her paintings adorn the walls.
The aesthetic, arntasteful fusion of prints, will be familiar to anyone English, a little chinzyrnfor some tastes perhaps but stylish none the less. The nicest rooms are the tworncorner superior doubles which have a light airy feel and room 11 isrnparticularly charming with a glossy wood floor, Persian carpets and a deep redrnand black tiled bathroom with vintage fittings.
All 17 rooms have immensely comfortablernHästens beds, free Wifi, free minibar and flatscreen TVs and guests can helprnthemselves to tea, coffee and cookies in the lobby. The hotel also owns twornneighbouring restaurants, the excellent Kindli (see Eat), where breakfast is servedrnto hotel guests and locals come to feast on classic Swiss cooking and Lumière (see Snack), a French style brasserie. rnrnrn
