Hôtel Mont-Blanc

Having been around for over a hundred years, the Hôtel Mont-Blanc Chamonix is the grand dame of the Chamonix hotel scene. And over a century old, it’s still looking good, thanks to its recent lavish refurbishment. In the magical hands of interior designer Sybille de Margerie, this classic French hotel has been reinvigorated with chic, contemporary design elements, while honouring its historic Alpine past.

Rooms at the Hôtel Mont-Blanc Chamonix mix light wooden accents with flashes of bold colour in the soft furnishings, and – in a nod to the sleek on-site spa – all bathrooms are stocked with luxe Clarins products. The top floor two-bedroom suites, however, steal the show with their private saunas and balconies looking out at Mont Blanc.

If the sight of the Clarins products peaks your interest, the spa is just an elevator ride away. With a heated outdoor pool (offering staggering views of the ever-present mountain panorama) and jacuzzi, as well as a gym and a whole host of decadent restorative treatments, from brightening facials to special massages for skiers, there’s plenty to enjoy.

Downstairs, the bar serves a great selection of wines and Champagne, alongside a decent food menu (they make a mean tartiflette), while the hotel restaurant, Le Matafan, is the place to enjoy fine seasonal, local cuisine. We’re talking gourmet dishes like gnocchi served with parsley butter and “Mont-Blanc” snails, local cheeseboards, and tartare of fera (caught from nearby Lake Léman).
