Hôtel Saint-Marc

Found in the 2nd arrondissement, Hôtel Saint-Marc is a boutique hotel with some serious historical creds, found as it is within a historic five-storey mansion that used to belong to Duc de Choiseul (the chief minister of Louis XV). Hoteliers Nadia Murano and Denis Nourry have – after lengthy renovations that included the creation of a leafy, glass-ceilinged indoor courtyard – transformed the landmark pile, giving it some much needed TLC and, of course, some superlative 21st century style.

Thanks to Italian designers Dimore Studio, the 26 guest rooms are awash with colour, with an overarching aesthetic lean towards Art Deco. Six different colours create the foundation for each of the six designs, including petrol blue, fir green, and mustard yellow. And bespoke and curated furnishings are found throughout – a burnt orange velvet chair in one corner, a brass bed headboard in another. Palm-print and geometric drapes draw the eye from floor to ceiling (in much the same way as some of the custom light fixtures do) before landing on the beautiful objets d’art casually placed in the space.

The luxurious details continue into the bathrooms, which are heated underfoot and festooned with Hermès bath products. And bold graphic lines define the public spaces, along with the gleam of marble and metal accents. Just meandering through Hôtel Saint-Marc can give you a stylish contact high. But for the ultimate feel-good experience, guests should head to the hotel’s wellness area. There’s a heated indoor pool and hammam, which you can privately book for added indulgence, as well as a full menu of massages and beauty treatments, including facials and manicures, to enjoy.
