Hudna
Given that a venue’s name has immense influence on the expectations of its potential clientele, owners of the Hudna took quite a gamble when naming their bar after the Arab word for ‘Truce’. A loaded term in the Middle East, the bar and its staff are comfortable in their distinct ideological stance, yet are so without letting the heaviness of politics soil a fun night out.
Taking over both sides of an alley jutting out of Abarbanel street, the establishment offers two indoor bars, and an outdoor lounge area filled with chairs, couches and tables. Live acts and DJs provide a diverse soundtrack, while local alcoholic options such as Goldstar beer and Arak dominate the bar-top. Expect a crowd of laid back students and young professionals setting up perch for the night, as well as tourists seeking to sample the alternative-minded Florentin neighborhood. Don’t forget to try some of the home-made hummus, a perfect pairing with Arak and Grapefruit juice, Florentin’s cocktail of choice.
