Hg2 : The Hedonist

Hudson River Park

This bustling stretch of bike and pedestrian paths, dotted with public and private piers, has come a long way in recent years, metamorphosing from what was a seedy, dangerous waterfront into a series of children’s parks, sporting fields, dog runs, and much more. Most famous are the Christopher Street Piers, which remain to this day a super-social gathering place for sun worshipers – many of them gay men – who lie out, grab food, and socialise here as soon as the weather gets nice. City athletes perpetually run, roll, and bike up and down its serene pathways, urged on by the hum of the West Side Highway and the colourful crowds beside them. There are plenty of institutions that line the 550-acre park, including the Frying Pan nightclub at Pier 63, Chelsea Piers, and Riverside Park.
