Humphry Slocombe

The destination spot of all the ice cream parlours in San Francisco, Humphry Slocombe is among the most adventurous spots in town. One look at the daily changing menu will make this clear: flavours such as ‘peanut butter curry’ reside next to ‘strawberry candied jalapeno’ and ‘salt and pepper’, all innovative and frankly bizarre concoctions of flavours. Humphry Slocome is the outcast who loves to be subversive and rebellious: see, for example, the flavour ‘Jesus Juice’, made of red wine and coke. It’s also insanely popular, a cult San Fran success, largely due to the shops’ large and constantly updated Twitter page. All this would be irrelevant, if these flavours didn’t work, and the taste experience was poor. But guess what? The ice creams, all made from organic dairy, are generally delicious, from the normal to innovative flavours. This is Humphry Slocome’s biggest strength: who else can make jalapeno, salt, pepper and curry taste this good in ice cream?
