I Due Forni

Easily the coolest pizza restaurant in Berlin, there’s never a dead (or dull) moment at I Due Forni. Run by a group of Italian punks, who also own a sister restaurant Il Casolare (Grimmstraße 30, tel 030 695 066 10) in Kreuzberg, it’s a rock ‘n’ roll venture without compromise. Refusing to advertise as a matter of policy, I Due Forni’s reputation has spread by word of mouth. The space is vast and rammed with tables, but guests seem to revel in the chaos and no one really minds if their pizza takes 20 or 40 minutes to arrive. Busy staff exude a ‘don’t mess’ attitude, but that’s all part of the no-frills charm. Scrawled messages, often of a political nature, cover the wall space along with posters of well-known revolutionaries. The vast and eclectic array of pizzas, which are excellent by Berlin standards
