Gimmicks are only daft if they are unprofitable, and Kube hotel’s ice bar – where you mitten up for a half-hour session on the Grey Goose vodka or cocktails made therewith, for €38 admission (vodka included) – is super-popular, so who’d knock it?
Beneath the chilly social hotspot there’s a roomy main bar, with DJs, squashy fake-fur sofas and armchairs, dim lighting, and a bar fringed with red LED lights.
The Kube complex (see Sleep) is hidden behind gates on a titchy street near the Gare du Nord. Grab a cab, rather than stumbling in the dark, especially post-vodka. And do book if you’ve got your heart set on a subzero aperitif, since space is limited.
