Ilatina
Despite being one of South America’s largest cities, high-quality Latin American cooking in Buenos Aires has long been lacking. Ilatina’s secret ‘closed door’ restaurant brings an exciting and vibrant twist to fine dining – fusing Latin American and Colombian Caribbean dishes and flavours to create an exciting and unique menu.
Run by the Colombian Macías brothers in what is ostensibly their home, a small, hidden-away space with just a few tables and typical of the puerta cerrada (closed door) trend. The reservation-only policy gives diners a feeling of exclusivity and maintains a sophisticatedly mellow ambience.
The seven-course tasting menu changes frequently, highlighting and accentuating the exotic and seasonal flavours of the Caribbean coast. Staple dishes such as sweet avocado mousse, pumpkin parfait, beetroot popcorn and tapioca with sweet potato are packed with simple, fresh favours and as such is some of the best you will find in Buenos Aires.
