Hg2 : The Hedonist

Having recently celebrated its 15th birthday, Incognito is one of the original clubs in Lisbon’s nightclub scene – although these days it functions as a prop rather than a support. Along with Fragil, it was part of a new wave of bars providing an alternative to the traditional fado houses.

In the halcyon days of the late 1980s, the music policy at Incognito was one of indie, alt-pop and techno. Little has changed since. Even the moustachioed doorman is a regular fixture. It’s a popular choice for students, who flock midweek to hear songs of yesteryear. A less than salubrious location necessitates a doorbell policy, but the club is open to all. It’s busiest at 2.30am and provides a friendly alternative to the waterfront superclubs.
