Hailed as one of the best restaurants in the world, it’s hardly surprising that Indigo is one of Mumbai’s hottest tables. There’s no denying that it’s a special occasion kinda place, but it’s comfortable, unintimidating and welcoming.
Pull up a pew at the bar and watch as the space fills up with the city’s most prominent taste-makers. The menu – inspired by Asia – changes just once a year, but the saffron ravioli and kairy curry remain classic constants. Indigo’s Sunday brunch is insanely popular, too: in traditional Mumbai style, it lasts for hours and razor-thin diners are stuffed to the gills with an array of tantalising plates.
Be sure to book your table well in advance – after all, this is where Angelina Jolie and the Clintons dine when they’re in town. It’s worth noting that there’s also a more casual Indigo Deli in Colaba, which gets horrendously busy and where the staff are nowhere near as attentive as they are here.
